Local emergency agencies join together for training exercise

Local first responders continue to train on responding to emergencies.

East Region OPP, the Leeds Grenville Paramedic Service and the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville took part in a joint emergency management tabletop exercise on Wednesday.

Officials say the exercise provided an opportunity to work through a simulated emergency scenario, test plans and procedures, strengthen inter-agency coordination, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

They say collaborative exercises are an important component of emergency preparedness and help municipalities meet provincial emergency management requirements.

The event, they say, also reinforced strong relationships between organizations and highlighted the value of a coordinated response during times of crisis.

They go onto say that by working together in a training environment, they are better prepared to support communities when real emergencies occur.
