A six-year-old child is now the second victim of a multi-vehicle collision in South Elmsley Township.
Leeds County OPP say they responded to a head-on collision involving two cars and an ambulance on Highway 15, between County Road 1 and County Road 5, around 5 p.m. Friday.
Police say the ambulance was returning to base and had no patients onboard. The two paramedics were transported to the hospital with serious injuries but have since been released.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a 34-year-old male from Elizabethtown-Kitley, was pronounced dead at the scene while a young child in the same vehicle was airlifted to a trauma centre by Ornge air ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
Police announced Tuesday morning that the child has passed away.
The driver and sole occupant of the third vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital.
An investigation into the crash continues and anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident is asked to contact Leeds County OPP.
