StatsCan: Fewer Canadians continue to travel to the U.S.

Many of us continue to choose other vacation destinations over making the trip south of the border.

Preliminary data from Statistics Canada shows that last month, the number of residents coming back by car from the U.S. dropped to 1.4 million.

That’s a 30.5 per cent decline from Oct. 2024 and makes it the 10th straight month there’s been less traffic compared to the same time a year earlier.

The number of Canadians returning home from the U.S. by air also dropped by 24 per cent.

The declines started to be seen following U.S. President Donald Trump’s election win.
