Barn destroyed in North Dundas blaze

The cause of a fire that destroyed a barn in North Dundas is under investigation.

North Dundas Fire Chief Kreg Raistrick says crews were called out to the barn where Main Street East meets Boyne Road late Sunday morning.

When they arrived, Raistrick says they found the structure fully engulfed by flames but he adds there were no animals inside and those that were nearby were moved further back by the residents who live there.

Raistrick tells the Vista Radio Newsroom that the homeowners’ quick action kept the blaze from causing more damage.

“(It) definitely helped mitigate the loss and fire crews were able to attack the main fire and protect the other structures nearby.”

Raistrick adds that a dollar figure for the damage caused has yet to be determined.
