Area fire departments come together for joint training exercise

Fire departments in the region are working together to make sure they are ready for an emergency.

Earlier this week, firefighters from communities including Edwardsburgh Cardinal, Augusta Township, North Grenville and Prescott came together for a joint training exercise.

It simulated a large fire that would require a high volume of water to supply an aerial fire truck.

Multiple tanker trucks transported water from the South Nation River to the Spencerville Fairgrounds, where it was emptied into portable tanks and pumped to the aerial truck.

Officials say training together gives firefighters an opportunity to practise coordinating equipment, crews and resources across departments, so they’re better prepared when an emergency happens.
