Major roadwork project on County Road 21 starts Monday

A major road rehabilitation project is getting underway near Spencerville.

Work on County Road 21, approximately 5.8 kilometres between the eastern limit of Roebuck to Spencerville, in Edwardsburgh/Cardinal and Augusta Township starts Monday and is expected to continue until November.

Details posted on the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Facebook page says the work will include single-lane closures; replacement of steel pipe on cross culverts, replacement of select entranceway culverts as well as the paving of two lifts asphalt.

While the project is ongoing, residents may experience occasional noise, increased truck traffic, and lane reductions with flagging operations.

Officials say traffic is expected to be minimally impacted and they add they are committed to minimizing inconvenience and ensuring the work is completed efficiently and safely.

The cost of the work is pegged at $4.1 million and is part of the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville’s 2026 capital budget.
