A local farmer says all of the rain coupled with heat this summer has made it a very challenging season.
Andrea McCoy-Naperstkow and her husband Arvin own a farm outside Kemptville where they raise beef cattle, grow cops and board horses.
She says the weather has created a great deal of difficulty for field conditions because getting just the right amount of rain is essential for growing and adds it’s the second summer in a row that has seen challenges.
She tells the Vista Radio Newsroom that there’s not much farmers can do to help solve the problem.
“You keep your fingers crossed and you keep an eye on your crops. It’s too soon for field crops, I think, to say oh my gosh I’ve lost it all.”
McCoy-Naperstkow adds that it depends on what the crop is as to how it will fare out.
