A moose is back on the loose after taking a brief swim in the Rideau Canal locks in Merrickville.
Tyler Kergen, one of the owners of the Pickle and Myrrh gift shop on Main Street East in the village, says he was driving by the locks on Thursday morning.
He tells the Vista Radio Newsroom that’s when he happened to spot something in the water.
“I look over and I just happened to see a moose swimming around in the lock. I definitely did a double take, did I see what I really just saw?”
Kergen says he grabbed his camera and snapped some pictures of the animal.
He says that one of the shop employees saw the moose in the water earlier in the morning and they called the Ministry of Natural Resources to come help.
Kergen says the water was let out in the lock and the moose eventually got out and went on his way.
