Edwardsburgh Cardinal marks major milestone for economic growth

It’s being called a major milestone for the long-term economic growth of Edwardsburgh Cardinal Township.

Officials say in a media release that phase one of the Edwardsburgh Cardinal land bank sale has been completed and involves approximately 2,500 acres of provincially owned land being transferred to HFI Pyrotechnics Inc. to support the company’s future expansion.

The township acted as a facilitator in the transfer of the land from the province to the company and officials say there was no cost to taxpayers.

HFI Pyrotechnics says the land was needed so they can meet the buffer requirements necessary for future expansion of its operations.

The company develops and produces pyrotechnic devices for military, defense, and civilian use.

They add they anticipate hiring an additional 10 to 20 employees in the coming months, along with additional on-site contractors, as they continue to respond to increased demand and investment in Canada’s defence sector.
