Entering or traveling on frozen waterways is hazardous and can result in serious injury or death.
The North Grenville Fire Service says fluctuating winter temperatures create extremely dangerous ice conditions on creeks, rivers, ponds, and all waterways.
They say ice thickness is highly inconsistent and can change rapidly, even within the same area.
Melting, moving water, and temperature swings weaken ice from below, often long before any warning signs are visible and ice that appears solid may fail without warning.
Officials are asking you to stay off all frozen or partially frozen waterways until you are 100 per cent sure of conditions.
You should also remind children to keep a safe distance from all waterways and keep pets leashed and away from the edge of water.
