First taste of winter to sweep through this weekend

The weather we’ll see over the next few days is a preview of what’s to come this winter.

Environment Canada Senior Meteorologist David Phillips says Nov. 6 is usually the date every year that we start to see some substantial snow and he adds that’s the case again this year.

With the nighttime low temperatures dropping around six degrees lower than normal, Phillips says it’s the first time this fall that we will see a killing frost which means you should cover over any plants or vegetables that you might have outside.

Phillips tells Moose FM that any flurries we see won’t stick around with warmer temperatures on the way next week.

He says it serves as a reminder to be ready for what’s to come.

“Get those snow tires on, find out where the snow shovel is and put the washer fluid in the car and make sure that you’re prepared.”

Daytime highs of around 5 degrees are in the forecast for next week.
