MP Barrett says top issues include affordability and crime with Parliament set to return

The MP for Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes says he’s heard the concerns of the people from his riding over the summer.

With the House of Commons returning to session on Sept. 15, Michael Barrett says at the top of his mind are issues including affordability, young people being able to find employment, timely access to healthcare and our economic trading relationships with our partners including the United States.

Barrett tells Moose FM that another issue he’s been hearing about is crime and what’s needed to confront it.

“Stronger measures particularly on bail for repeat violent offenders needs to be taken so that we can protect our communities.”

Barrett adds he spent the summer months attending events in his riding and meeting with business owners, not-for-profits and others to hear their thoughts.
