Kemptville District Hospital staff say they are taking steps to reduce surgical wait times for the region.
At the beginning of the year, KDH officials say they moved endoscopy procedures from the operating rooms to the hospital’s clinics.
They say the change has allowed them to better utilize hospital space and resources, creating additional operating room capacity and improving access to surgical procedures.
An endoscopy, a minimally invasive medical procedure, allows a doctor to see inside your body using a flexible tube with a camera and light.
Doctors can visually examine organs, collect tissue samples, and patients can receive minor treatments like polyp removal without major surgery.
Officials say the relocation reflects strong alignment and a shared commitment among regional partners to deliver care close to home.
They add that endoscopy procedures are being performed in KDH’s ambulatory clinic space on Mondays, with plans to expand to other days of the week.
Existing clinic services remain unchanged, delivered in a different room.
