Police: Business owners need to be weary of scams demanding crypto currency

Business owners are being warned to watch out for scams demanding crypto currency.

East Region OPP say fraudsters are targeting businesses across the region by pretending to be fire inspectors or claiming you owe outstanding bills.

They say they then demand payment through cryptocurrency ATMs.

Business owners are reminded to always verify the person’s ID, check with management before making any payment and never pay on the spot.

They should also report any suspicious calls or visits immediately.

Police are urging business owners to stay alert and protect their business from fraud.
