WDMH lone hospital in Canada to receive funding through new automotive strategy

Electric vehicle drivers will be right at home at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital.

WDMH says it’s the only hospital in Canada to receive funding through the federal government’s new automotive strategy and it’s using the $100,000 to help install 20 new electric vehicle charging stations.

So far, 10 chargers have been installed and are ready to use, with the remaining 10 expected by the end of the summer.

Once complete, WDMH officials say the stations will make it easier for patients, visitors, staff, and community members to charge their vehicles while they’re at the hospital.

They add that the installations reflect WDMH’s commitment to sustainability, innovation, and ensuring the hospital remains accessible and welcoming for everyone they serve.
