Kemptville District Hospital Foundation x-ray machine fundraising campaign surpasses goal

The Kemptville District Hospital Foundation says its fundraising campaign for a new x-ray machine has surpassed its initial goal.

Foundation officials say Gavin Murphy, an Ottawa lawyer and philanthropist, was the catalyst for the campaign after he offered to match every donation, up to $230,000, to purchase a new x-ray machine for the hospital.

His contribution covers approximately half the cost of the machine.

The hospital says the old x-ray machine, which was in operation for nearly 16 years, stopped working right after the campaign launched in October.

The new machine has been ordered and installation is scheduled for sometime in March.

Officials say the new x-ray machine is a state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging tool that will improve patient outcomes and timely access to quality care.
