There is a reminder this holiday season from OPP to avoid making your home a target for thieves.
Police said thieves can easily discover what was on your Christmas list by looking at gift boxes left at the curb for pickup.
That could make your home a desired target.
OPP said it’s best to take boxes from large ticket items to the recycling depot or break down and shred the boxes and to shred all receipts and financial documents.
If you are visiting family or away for a vacation, you should have a trusted person gather your garbage bins.
Police also advise gathering mail as soon as possible or have someone retrieve your mail for you.
You should avoid posting new gifts on social media and if away, make your home looked lived in.
