Some fire tips to keep in mind for Christmas trees

The Prescott Fire Department is reminding you about the importance of properly watering your Christmas tree.

They say trees bring wonder, but a dry one can turn to danger in seconds, becoming a serious fire risk.

Fire officials say prevention starts with simple habits including watering your tree every single day and keeping it away from heat sources to prevent it from drying out quickly.

Other tips include never placing lit candles on the tree and using a sturdy stand that holds enough water for daily hydration.

You should also always use certified lights.

Officials say don’t give fire a chance, protect your loved ones and protect your home.
