One of Canada’s most well known sportscasters is remembering his time covering events in our region.
Ottawa-born James Duthie has won three Gemini Awards as Canada’s Best Sports Broadcaster, as well as the Sports Media Canada Award for Excellence in Broadcasting, in a career that has seen him host NBA, CFL, NFL, PGA and NHL coverage on television for TSN.
He graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism before starting his career as a tv reporter in Ottawa and covering events in the region including the Kemptville Fair and other stories.
He tells Moose FM that starting out here helped make him into who he is today.
“All the soft stories would go to the young reporter so I’d be doing like the cow milking contest. That’s where I cut my teeth.”
A best selling author as well, Duthie has released his latest book, Certified Beauties-more of hockey’s greatest untold stories, just in time for the holidays.
