You won’t need to use the Town of Prescott’s blue garbage bags anymore.
After agreeing to replace them with bag tags in October, the transition to the new system has started. They cost $1.50 each, or $10.00 for a pack of ten, just like the municipal bags did.
The Town says you can use garbage bags that hold up to 135 litres, but they each need to weigh 44 pounds or less. Each one you put out will need to be tagged, but there’s no limit on how many will be collected.
The tags will be made available at local businesses over the next few weeks, including Town Hall. If you still have any of the municipal bags left over, you can use those without tagging them, and they’ll still be collected.
