Prescott Fire and Rescue will be teaming up with other local departments to raise awareness this fire prevention week.
Prescott firefighters will be a joined at Canadian Tire on Saturday by representatives from the Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Fire Department and Augusta County Fire and Rescue. Prescott’s Fire Administrator Tracy Day says weather permitting there are a number of activities planned including fire extinguisher tutorials, an appearance by Sparky the Dog, fire trucks for children to explore and the inflatable fire safety house.
The theme of this year’s fire prevention week is Every Second Counts and fire departments are encouraging the public the not only create a home escape plan but practice it with everyone living in the home. Day says that in a fire lives can be saved, or lost, in a matter of seconds so it is very important to be prepared.
