The Marianna van Silfhout Gallery is hosting St. Lawrence College’s 10th Annual Alumni Exhibition.
The theme of this year’s exhibition is diversity and the gallery will be showcasing artwork by 18 St. Lawrence College alumni as part of the event. The art exhibit will be displayed at the gallery, which is located on the Brockville campus of St. Lawrence College, and runs until August 11th.
St. Lawrence College is celebrating its 50th anniversary and encouraged alumni from all campuses and programs to submit artwork that displayed their interpretation of diversity. According to St. Lawrence College visitors to the gallery will be able to view 40 pieces. These pieces were completed using different methods including; charcoal, photography, mixed media, oil, acrylic and more.
Featured artists include Dorothy Adlington, Beverly Ashford, Lynne Bowker, Belia Brandow, Joyce Buckley, Britt Derbyshire, Helen Fenton, Marian Forester, Lillian Fyn, Elsie Gallinger, Victoria Gilpin, Helene Grondines, Mary Lou Jaansalu, Laura Lee, Solange Leman, Hanna MacNaughtan, Rozalind Phillips and Marilyn White.
The foyer of the gallery will be displaying artwork by members of Porcelain Artists of Canada Inc. This part of the exhibit is a public preview of the work that will be completed in 2018 when the Thousand Islands Porcelain Art School annual conference comes to St. Lawrence College.
The opening reception will be held tonight, Tuesday July 18th, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. There will be live music, a cash bar and awards ceremony.
