Students Protest Potential School Closure

Students at Glengarry District High School are protesting that their school is on the chopping block. Students walked out yesterday morning because Glengarry District High School is one of the schools being considered for closure by the UCDSB. Superintendent of Schools at the UCDSB Tim Mills issued a statement saying that they care for the safety and well-being of students and can’t condone the walkout. Mills says students and the general public can share their thoughts about the schools review through the official survey or by going to the public meetings. The walkout comes a day after parents from Oxford-on-Rideau Public School asked North Grenville Council to support them in trying to put a stop to the potential closure of their school in Oxford Mills. The South Grenville public meeting takes place November 15th.
