Chief Superintendent Chris Harkins has been named Commander of the OPP East Region. Harkins is originally from Pembroke. He’ll oversee 1,200 members and civilians under his command. Harkins takes over for former Regional Commander Dan Redmond. Harkins says the territory size is one of the challenges he faces.
Harkins says he wants to focus on a few different issues.
Harkins started in the new position on Monday.
