Prescott Mayor Gauri Shankar says Canada Day makes him proud.
Shankar says he loves our country and Canada Day is a celebration of the founding of Canada in 1867.
He says one of the things that he enjoys the most is the spirit that’s felt in the community.
Shankar tells Moose FM that it can be seen in a variety of different ways.
“Whether it’s putting a sign in your front yard or wearing a red shirt or your favorite Canadian jersey it’s great to be able to acknowledge all of the values that define us as Canadians.”
Shankar adds he’s looking forward to being a part of the Canada Day parade in Prescott on July 1.
It begins at Kelly’s Beach with the route finishing at Fort Wellington where there will be family friendly activities and free admission all day.
The day finishes off with fireworks at dark.
