Police say human remains discovered on an island on the St. Lawrence River near Gananoque have been confirmed to be those of an individual reported missing earlier this year.
Ontario Provincial Police say Leeds County OPP officers responded to an island on Monday, May 19 where an individual reported making the discovery.
Investigators conducted a detailed investigation, and police say it has been determined that there was no foul play.
The deceased was a 68-year-old male from the area.
The individual’s name will not be released out of respect to the family’s privacy.
