A goat that was on the loose for over 24 hours and causing traffic headaches now has a new home.
Grenville County OPP Constable Dave Holmes says a call came in Wednesday morning about a goat that was spotted in the area of Highway 401 and Highway 416.
He says officers went to the scene but were unable to find the animal until just after 11 a.m. Thursday near Johnstown.
Holmes says multiple officers, including two Canada Border Services Agency members, corralled the goat and they got help from a passerby who happened to have goat food and another goat with them.
He tells Moose FM they were able to hatch a plan to bring the goat into custody safely.
“We contained the goat and used the second goat and the food to keep it calm so that we could move in close enough to hold on to it safely so it could not run away and we could get a leash on it.”
Holmes adds they are not sure where the goat came from but it appeared that it had been in the area for a while.
By the way, the animal has been named Dora the Explorer.
