The new water tower isn’t the only major infrastructure project coming to Prescott next year.
Mayor Gauri Shankar spoke with MyPrescottNow.com to walk us through another project the town is planning to begin in 2024: revitalizing East Street.
“[We’re looking at] fixing the roads, the sewers and the water pipes in those areas,” Shankar explains. “Some of them date back to the 1800s.”
Shankar says the age of the pipes on East Street can cause serious problems.
“They’re clay pipes, and then we run into trouble where they collapse, and we have a lack of water and sewer in that area.”
The revitalization of East Street was included in the first report of Prescott’s 2024 budget process, at this week’s council meeting.
The report says the entire project is expected to cost anywhere from $1.4 million to $2.1 million, and to be completed by 2025.
