Parents and kids can enjoy the last week of summer vacation knowing buses will be running to start the school year.
Janet Murray, the General Manager and Chief Administrative Officer of Student Transportation of Eastern Ontario (STEO), says a “tentative agreement” has been reached with local bus companies.
“We are delighted to have reached an agreement with the school bus companies and to continue the positive relationships we have built over many years, for the foreseeable future,” Murray says.
The contract, which was negotiated by STEO and the Eastern Ontario Bus Operators Association (EOBOA), is set to last for the next four years.
Frank Healey, a spokesperson for EOBOA, says he knows drivers in our area will be happy to be out on the first day of school.
“I want to thank STEO for continuing to work with us to reach an agreement, and I look forward to another four years of working together for students and their families.”
Staff members at STEO say more information will be sent to families once the last details are finalized.
