Expect to see more airplanes in the skies above the Leeds-Grenville in a few weeks.
Ontario’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is preparing to begin its annual rabies vaccine bait drop.
In rural regions like ours, that means marshmallow-scented pills that contain a liquid rabies vaccine will be dropped from planes onto the habitats of raccoons, skunks and foxes.
If you find a pill after it’s dropped, you’re being asked not to touch it, so that an animal can eat it and get immunized.
The pills have the words “do not eat” printed on them, as well as a toll-free number you can call with any questions.
The rabies bait drop is set to begin on August 12th.
