South Grenville Chamber Of Commerce Set To Host Delayed 2020 Annual Awards Banquet On Thursday

Some of the community’s hardest workers will be highlighted at the South Grenville Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Awards Banquet.

The awards take place Thursday, with four awards up for grabs, the Community Artistic and Cultural Award, the Mike Boyles Memorial Award, the Connie Dickey Youth Awards and the Reverend Gerry Ring Memorial Community Service Award.

Chamber Marketing Director Blinda Campbell says it’s more important than ever to recognize the positive things that are happening in the community.

“A lot of these amazing things that are happening go unrecognized,” Campbell said. “And it’s not that these volunteers do what they do because they expect recognition, they do it because they truly believe it’s the right thing to do and they want to support their community.”

The award ceremony was postponed last year.

The Community Artistic and Cultural Award recognizes a person or organization who lends their expertise towards the development and success of a local artistic and cultural community, through their body of work.

The Mike Boyles Memorial Award recognizes a business that has contributed to the community by being a responsible and caring employer that has enhanced the quality of life for its employees and community.

The Connie Dickey Youth Award goes to a resident under the age of 20 who is considered a credit to South Grenville Community.

Meanwhile, the Reverend Gerry Ring Memorial Community Service Award goes to a person or organization who has made a special contribution to our community through commitments over the years which has helped make it a better place to live.

Campbell says they have an exciting evening planned for those who attend.

“We’ve got some really exciting, innovative things we feel attendees will really enjoy,” Campbell said. “And again, this is just to celebrate the wonderful community that we work, volunteer and live in, and the people who make our community so incredibly spectacular.”

Nominations are closed but residents can register to attend the event by heading here

The awards will take place over ZOOM on Thursday, starting at 6:30 p.m.
