The “Recognition of Asset Builders” event celebrated multiple people including some from Prescott.
This was the fifth year the Every Kid in our Communities Coalition (EveryKid) has hosted the event. EveryKid Member Tawnya Boileau says they put out a call to the community to nominate a person, business or organization that makes a difference in the lives of youth. This year Boileau says they received an overwhelming number of nominations and celebrated 35 people.
Those recognized this year include: Connect Youth Inc., Leslie Bottigoni, Lynda Joanisse, South Grenville District High School Principal Robert Currier, Amy Melko, Ann McParland, Aidan Keeley-Griffith, Brittney Turley, Cadets, Doctor Donaleen Hawes, Emily Wimpenny, Evelyn Vanolst, Greg Houldcroft, Helen Coyea, James Lucas, Jay Mater, Justin Lawn, Justice Charles Anderson, Kathleen Hare, Kaitlin Gale, Kimberly Cosgrove, Mandy Delaney, Mary-Anne Inglis, Megan Thompson, Michelle Allingham, Nicole McCann, Paige Greenwood, Rajaa Hadubba, Rick Beckstead, Sondra Seeley, Stephanie Hutton VanderBaaren, St, John Ambulance of Leeds, Grenville & Lanark, Tanya Sinclair, Willy Primeau, and 1000 Islands Miniputt.
In honour of it being the fifth year now, Boileau says the “Start with Hello” campaign was launched to keep the asset building momentum going throughout the year. She says anyone can take part by reaching out to a young person and build positive relationships when possible. Boileau adds their hope by doing this is to create a community where children and youth feel accepted, included and valued.
