The Town of Prescott is planning on not renewing their mobile app.
Prescott went into an agreement with eSolutions in 2015 to redesign the town’s website and create a Pingstreet mobile application. From January to June this year, the app was viewed just over 200 times with around 40 unique users. This equals about one use per day on average.
Over 50-percent of the usage for the app was to check the garbage and recycling schedule. The annual renewal fee is $3,390 which equals approximately $83 per unique user. Mayor Brett Todd mentioned the money would be better spent on the website then putting it into an app that no one is looking at. Town staff discussed briefly making the website more straight forward and adding the garbage schedule to the front page of the website. They will be looking into more ways to improve the website in the future. The final vote to discontinue the app will come at the next Council meeting on October 29th.
