Brockville Dancers Star In PSA

The Broadway Dance Academy have created a third dancing public service announcement.

The academy released (Our) Little Secret on September 17th. It is a short film that features around 30 local dancers. It is about internet safety to try and prevent internet predator related kidnappings. Kelli Gautreau grew up in Brockville and was the Director/Choreographer for this project. She says they are making 12 short films altogether and try to choose topics to raise awareness for children.

“The story is loosely based around a survivor of internet predator, she was kidnapped when she was 13 years old. So, if you watch the film at the end, her name is Alicia Kozakiewicz and she now runs The Alicia Project.”

Gautreau says Kozakiewicz started Alicia’s Law, which is a law that tries to prevent and catch internet predators. The film will be donated back to Alicia’s Project. Gautreau says the films are always donated back to a certain cause or charity.

The Brockville Police were also involved in the film and will be taking it to schools.

Gautreau says they have already cast and filmed a new short film about the #MeToo movement. The film includes local dancers as well and is currently in the editing stage and will likely not come out until next year.
