Windmill Brewery will not be participating in the Ontario government’s buck-a-beer plan.
Premier Doug Ford announced a voluntary plan for brewers to lower the price of beer from $1.25 to $1 starting August 27th.
Sean Lucey is the owner of Windmill Brewery and says they focus on high quality, premium product. The brewery sells a can for $3.10 and Lucey adds they have no intention of “cheaping out.”
Lucey says the public’s support has all been in favour of keeping their prices right where they are.
Buck-a-beer applies to beer with a less than five point six-percent alcohol volume and the price wouldn’t apply to draft beers or the bottle deposit.
