At Brockville city council on Tuesday, the chairman of the Aquatarium steering committee made a presentation. The cost of the signature tourist attraction has risen from $22 million to $25.5 million – and city taxpayers are being asked to help cover the difference.
Tony Barnes sparked a reaction from council when he said the planned facility had grown, from a planned 27,000 square feet to 33,000. There is still no firm opening date for the facility, but Barnes assured council it will be in 2016.
