Funds being raised for family of Augusta Township drowning victim

Police have released the name of the man who died while fishing near Johnstown on the weekend. 48-year-old James Earl Kirkby drowned while fishing with two other men.

Around 2:00pm on December 19th, police received a report that two fishermen had been rescued from Adams Island. Investigation showed three men had been fishing when their boat took on water and overturned. Two of the men were able to get safely to the island where they were rescued by another fishing boat. The third man was missing. A search began on land, water and in the air.  At 1:00pm on Sunday, December 20th, the body of the 48-year-old man from Augusta Township was recovered by OPP divers. An autopsy is scheduled for December 21st.
