Prescott has selected a new auditor.
During this week’s Town Council meeting it was announced that KPMG LLP out of Kingston would be receiving an offer. KPMG was one of nine firms that submitted proposals and they were the second most cost effective. The first most cost effective company wasn’t selected because they failed to provide all the mandatory requirements requested for the proposal.
KPMG’s proposed fee averages out to just under $22,000 over five years, with an increase annually. According to the town this will cost less than the town’s previous audits, with the exception of 2016. The 2016 audit was $1000 less, but this was a result of the work being completed in house.
