The Town of Prescott has authorized a Transfer Payment Agreement with the province.
During this week’s Town Council meeting the town took the last step toward obtaining funding from the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund. Town Treasurer Mathew Armstrong spoke about the fund and explained it was created to support pressing needs at the municipal level.
The town hopes to use the funds for four main projects at the water treatment plant. Armstrong says they intend to replace the roof, fix the water infiltration, address some general damage done to the building and update the heating and cooling systems.
According to Town Council the cost of repairs will be split, with the municipality and province both handling 25 per cent while the federal government pays for the remaining half.
