This week the South Grenville Chamber of Commerce honoured four locals for their hard work and perseverance.
The Mike Boyles Memorial Corporate Service Award was presented to Donna and Bert White, the owners and operators of Green Things Garden, Gift and Maintenance Centre. The memorial award honours business owners who contribute to the community as a responsible and carrying employer.
Sandra Robertson was awarded the Community Artistic and Cultural Contribution Award posthumously for her years researching and writing about the area. Her husband of 55 years accepted the award and said she would have been grateful; adding she genuinely loved researching the old stone homes the area has to offer.
This year’s Rev. Gerry Ring Memorial Community Service Award was presented by Augusta Township to the Rotary Club of Prescott. During their acceptance speech it was revealed that even though the Rotary Club in Prescott was forced to fold earlier this year the town would not be without Rotary Club services. The Rotary Club of Brockville has agreed to help support Prescott in the future.
Finally Catherine Demers was presented the Connie Dickey Memorial Youth Award by one of the award’s sponsors Judith Caldwell. Caldwell raved about Demers years spent volunteering and the hardwork she puts in to bettering the community. Demers thanked her family for making her the person she is.
The chamber congratulated everyone nominated and thanked their sponsors for all the support.
