The South Grenville Food Bank celebrated their new loading dock and sorting area the only way they know how, by giving away food.
On Friday the food bank held a ribbon-cutting ceremony and public barbecue to mark the official completion of the building’s newest addition. Thanks to the new unloading dock the food bank can take shipments from large trucks, which had been impossible before completing the project. Goods had to be picked up offsite or dropped off in small loads due to space restrictions.
Some of the money for this project came from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, and their contribution was noted. The South Grenville Food Bank also operates outside of Prescott, feeding hungry families in Augusta Township and running food banks in Cardinal and Spencerville.
