South Grenville Rangers weekend schedule

With the announcement about the Leo being forced to close the Ranger’s schedule is in limbo. There has not been any definitive word from the team yet on how they will be moving forward. There are two games on the calendar for the team this weekend.

Saturday night the Metcalfe Jets are scheduled to be in town for a battle of 2-2 teams. A win over the Jets would give the Rangers a winning record for the first time this season. While the Rangers come in riding high on a 4-0 win last weekend, Metcalfe will be trying to bounce back from the 6-3 drumming they took from the Cumberland Bandits in their last game. The Rangers will have to keep a close eye on Justin Raymond, the Jet’s leading scorer. Raymond has 7 goals in just four games this season, including two hat tricks. Still no word on whether this game will go ahead at another arena or if it will be played at a later date.

The Rangers will be back on the ice Sunday afternoon when they travel to Papineau to take on the league leading Vikings. Papineau will come into the weekend hot, after being shut out by the Rangers the Vikings dismantled the Morrisburg Lions 13-1. Justin Labrosse and Jacob Osbourne continue to lead the league in scoring. Labrosse has 10 goals and 6 assists in just six games played and was not in the line-up the last time these two teams met. This will be an away game for the Rangers and puck drop is at 3:30pm in Papineau.

In other news Rangers goalie Lee Spurgeon has the league’s second lowest Goals Against Average at 2.01.
