The Upper Canada District School Board has announced the amount raised across the school board during this year’s Terry Fox Run.

UCDSB students were able to fundraise around $70,000 over the last two weeks and representatives with the school board say the fundraising hasn’t stopped yet.

Some of the schools highlighted as doing exceptionally well include Viscount Alexander Public School and Char-Lan District High School raising almost $4,000, while Athens District High School raising 6 times as much as they did last year.

Toniata Public School also managed to triple their total from last year and now Principal Rich Tamblyn will have to make good on his offer to kiss a fish.

School board Super Intendent David Coombs says it’s great to see students remaining committed to raising funds for cancer research while showing empathy towards those struggling with the disease.
