December 4th has been proclaimed “Founder’s Day” in Prescott

December 4th has been proclaimed Founder’s Day in the Town of Prescott. This is in recognition of the 280th birthday of Colonel Edward Jessup. The celebration will be combined with the ‘soft opening’ of the municipality’s $2.5 million dollar project, RiverWalk Park.

Founder’s Day came about after a request from Councillor Fraser Laschinger of the heritage committee. They wanted to recognize Jessup’s important role in the town’s development in some manner. The event coincides with the opening of the Park, which should be complete by December 4th, after a series of delays.
