South Grenville Rangers win their first of the season

The South Grenville Rangers picked up their first win in franchise history Friday night.

The Rangers exploded for 4 goals in the second period and held on for a 5-2 victory over the Bytown Royals. Carson Pickup, Brody Ranger and Dillon Cameron each had three points in the game. Zach Hotte also had a goal and assist while Damon Brown, Kristopher Laushway, and Dylan Marshall tallied helpers. Lee Spurgeon picked up his first win of the season, along with six penalty minutes, and Simon Watt served as the team’s muscle on the evening, racking up 17 penalty minutes.

Unfortunately South Grenville couldn’t string together a winning streak. On Saturday night the team travelled to Finch and played the Morrisburg Lions. It was tied going into the third but two goals from Morrisburg in the period were enough for a 4-2 final. There were some bright spots in the loss as Dillon and Ranger both stretched their point streaks to three games. Hotte has also been a pleasant surprise for the team, after not playing in the first game of the season he now has three points in two games after potting a goal against the Lions.

South Grenville’s first ever home game will be October 7th at Leo Boivin Community Centre at 7:30pm against the Papineau Vikings.
