Town of Prescott receive funds from the Eastern Ontario Development Program

The Town of Prescott’s first Economic Development Summit will go down as a memorable one.

On Friday dozens of business owners and local politicians gathered for updates and discussion on the economic future of the town and region. Mayor Brett Todd delivered a power point presentation outlining the town’s recent infrastructure investments and business centric programs, like Progress Prescott and the Business Expansion and Retention Project. He praised the town’s decision to hire, and the subsequent work hard work of, Economic Development Officer Dr. Jacqueline Schoemaker Holmes saying town hall already wouldn’t know what to do without her.

Mayor Todd’s speech was followed by a cheque presentation from Heather Lawless of the Grenville Community Futures Development Corporation on behalf of the Eastern Ontario Development Program. The cheque was for just under $27,000 and will go towards the town’s Recreation Master Plan.

Local MP Gord Brown could not attend because of commitments with the federal government but Edwardsburgh-Cardinal Mayor Pat Sayeau, Augusta Township Mayor Dave Malanka and MPP Steve Clark were in attendance and gave brief speeches about the progress being made in the area.
