This year’s Brockville Culture Days is Plus

Downtown Brockville will be packed with culture this weekend.

For the third time in Brockville history there will be a Culture Days celebration. The three day celebration of arts and culture is a province wide initiative intended to build support and appreciation for arts at a community level. Local artists get to show what they can do, while community members learn the different art styles and mediums available in the area.

Event facilitator Russ Disotell says they have taken to calling this year’s event Brockville Culture Days Plus because there will be exhibits outside of Brockville. On Sunday Lyndehurst, Mallorytown, Frankville, and Delta will all hold events under the Culture Days banner.

The event’s hub will be King Street, which the town is going to close between 9:00am and 4:00pm on Saturday. A few of the planned attractions include a performance by the 1000 Islands Chorus, open houses at the Brockville Armouries and AOG Gallery, and the Brockville Farmer’s Market.

According to Disotell last year’s Brockville event was the fifth largest in the province, for cities with less than 50,000 people, based on the number of participants. They add these calculations were done based on registered participants and only around 60 percent registered for the event.
