Romantic seniors renew wedding vows at Brockville General Hospital

A very special event happened recently at Brockville General Hospital. One of Canada’s oldest Navy veterans, Chief Petty Officer Ernest Sergeant and Irene, his bride of 53 years, renewed their wedding vows.

The ceremony took place in the Hospital’s solarium with family members, hospital staff and board members in attendance. The couple was accompanied into the ceremony by bagpipes and the hospital chaplain presided. Members of the Brockville Hospice Palliative Care team decorated the venue for the wedding.

Ninety-five-year-old Ernest wanted to renew his vows:  “Irene is the love of my life, marrying her was the best decision I’ve ever made.”
