Steve Clark cynical about province’s pot plan

MPP Steve Clark says he’s a bit cynical when it comes to the province’s plan to sell pot.

The Government of Ontario says the LCBO will oversee the selling of cannabis through new stand-alone stores and an online order service.

Clark says that he wasn’t surprised by the announcement regarding the LCBO overseeing the sale of the product. But Clark says he doesn’t “trust the Wynne Liberals to get this right”. Clark believes there’s still a number of issues that must be addressed including public safety.

Clark says he will bring up those concerns at Queen’s Park.

About 150 stores are expected to be opened by 2020 including 80 by July 1st, 2019. The
province says it will set the minimum age at 19 and the recreational use of it will be prohibited in public places and workplaces.
