Animal lovers are encouraged to help change the lives of animals in need on September 24th.
The Ontario SPCA, in cooperation with the Leeds and Grenville Animal Centre, are hosting a Pedigree presented Friends for Life! Walk. The walk is a major fundraiser for those involved and takes place in 15 communities across the province. Funds raised at the walk will support programs and services that are provided by the Leeds and Grenville Animal Centre.
The Animal Centre says the event is more than just a fundraising event; it is a fun-filled day that includes a pet photo booth, vendors, a post walk barbeque and pet contests like best dressed, smallest and largest.
The Manager of the Leeds and Grenville Animal Centre Marianne Carlyle says even if you don’t have a pet to bring on the walk you can still register and raise funds. The Centre’s dogs that are up for adoption will be lent out as walking partners. To find a walk in your community, or register for the one in Brockville, go to www.friendsforlifewalk.ca. Over $65,000 has already been raised and the fundraising goal for this year’s walks is $350,000.
